Weekly Photo Challenge: SPLIT-SECOND STORY

For this week’s [photo] challenge, we want you to become a documentary photographer and attempt to capture a candid moment of a person, place, or thing. Put your National Geographic hat on and tell a story by documenting a moment in time through a single image.

DSC00946Lesson to be learned here? Don’t ignore the “no food on the beach” signs at Assateague Island!

The secondary lesson I suppose is that the lifeguards REALLY don’t consider the ponies stealing food to be an emergency – or a situation in any way requiring their attention!

(And no, this wasn’t my food!!)

    1. The wild ponies wander onto the beach frequently at Assateague Island (in Maryland, USA.) It’s really fun to watch them…but keep your food well hidden! They’re not the slightest bit shy about ambling over and helping themselves! (As seen here!)

  1. Oh wow, how interesting! I had to look up this place since I’ve never heard of it before. I couldn’t let this great photo of horses on the beach go without a bit of investigation.

    1. They’re so much fun to watch! I think the most hilarious thing is just the absolute nonchalance of both the ponies and the lifeguards to the ponies’ nosing around in people’s stuff. They amble onto the beach, munch on whatever they can find, then amble on their way – and the lifeguards don’t pay any more attention to them than they would to pigeons. It’s too funny.
